Your trips stay on your phone.
Talus Path has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What the app stores
Everything you enter — trips, gear, food, people and pets, health and safety details, photos — is stored on your device. The app does not automatically upload it, and there is no Talus account to sign in to.
What goes online
The app asks about going online when you set it up, and you can turn online features off at any time under Settings → App → Data & Privacy. With them off, the app still works fully offline.
- Weather. To show a forecast or seasonal weather for a trip, the app sends that trip's location, elevation and dates directly to Open-Meteo. Like any internet request, this also gives Open-Meteo your IP address and the request URL. Open-Meteo says its server logs may contain geographic coordinates and are deleted after 90 days. Talus does not receive these requests.
Location
When you ask the app for your current position, that device position is used on your phone and is not sent anywhere. Weather uses the planned trip locations described above, not your live position.
Support and feedback
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. Testing builds can prepare a feedback email containing your message and a diagnostic summary: app version, platform, the screen you were viewing, the time, and counts of trips, gear, food and people — not their contents. Nothing is emailed until you choose to send it. We use this information only to answer you and improve Talus Path.
This website
This site is hosted by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request information to deliver and protect the site under its privacy policy. Talus does not add cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
Backups and exports
Talus Path is excluded from automatic cloud backup. When you make a backup or export a trip, you get an ordinary file, and you decide where it goes.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored. Backup files you saved yourself stay wherever you put them, and uninstalling does not delete messages you already emailed to support.
Children
The app does not ask for anyone's age and does not automatically upload anyone's stored information. If a child sends a message to support, we use it only to answer the request.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Any future online feature will be described here and can be switched off in the same place.
